Android Auto has made some great improvements, especially with the return of the light theme. This feature was removed in 2019 during a redesign, but started coming back in 2023. New updates show that Google has worked hard to make it much better and more consistent.
When the light theme was first seen in 2023, users noticed that it only changed the navigation bar and suggestion cards. Other parts of the app, like settings, media, and phone apps, stayed in dark mode. This made the theme feel incomplete and not very well put together.
But now, Google has fixed the light theme spotted via AssembleDebug. The light theme is now applied to all parts of Android Auto, so everything looks the same and works well together.
The light theme can now change automatically with your phone’s settings. If you switch to dark mode or light mode on your phone, Android Auto will follow along and adjust its theme too.
While dark mode is popular because it’s easier on the eyes, light mode has its own benefits. It can be especially helpful if you’re driving during the day and there’s a lot of sunlight. The lighter colors make the screen easier to see in bright conditions.
