Samsung has just launched its One UI 8 beta program, but there’s a catch: the company is letting way fewer people test it compared to last year’s One UI 7 beta.
The One UI 8 beta started on May 28, 2025, for Galaxy S25 users in the US, South Korea, UK, and Germany. If you are in the US and tried to sign up, you probably got disappointed fast. The beta spots filled up in just one day, leaving thousands of eager Galaxy fans empty-handed.
A Samsung insider who’s been reliable with leaks before told us exactly what’s going on. According to our source, Samsung intentionally opened “way too few spots” this time around. But why would they do that?
The Reason Behind Fewer Beta Spots:
Here’s the interesting part: Samsung actually thinks One UI 8 is much more stable than previous betas. Our Samsung source explained that “this beta version of One UI is more stable than previous (One UI 7) beta versions.” Remember the One UI 7 disaster? That beta was a mess – it had security problems, a broken lock screen, and took forever to get fixed. The final version didn’t even come out until April 2025, months later than planned.
By letting fewer people test the beta, the company can keep better control over the feedback and make sure everything works properly before the public release.
Which Phones Will Get the Beta?
Right now, only Galaxy S25 series phones can join the beta. But don’t worry if you have other Samsung phones – more devices are coming soon.
The insider hinted that Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 should get the beta too, though nothing’s officially confirmed yet. When we asked about expanding to more devices, our source said, “Nothing is confirmed, but it should be available for the Fold6/Flip6.” Samsung is already testing One UI 8 on these foldable phones behind the scenes. The Galaxy S24 users are also expected to get their turn after the S25 rollout.
When Can You Join One UI 8 Beta?
Missed the first beta? Don’t worry – there will be a “Beta 2″ round, though Samsung hasn’t said when that will happen. If you want to be ready, make sure you have the Samsung Members app installed and keep it updated. That’s where beta invitations show up first.
Sure, it’s frustrating that fewer people can test One UI 8 right now. But Samsung’s cautious approach might actually be smart. After the One UI 7 mess, Samsung clearly wants to get things right this time.
The stable version of One UI 8 should arrive sometime in July or August 2025, alongside Samsung’s new foldable phones. Until then, Galaxy users will just have to wait patiently and hope they get picked for the next beta round. For now, keep checking the Samsung Members app and cross your fingers for Beta 2!
