Dhanuka Agritech Limited organized a national-level workshop titled “Empowering Farmers: Advanced Technologies in Maize and Pulses Cultivation” in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. The one-day event aimed to equip farmers with knowledge of modern, sustainable practices in maize and pulses cultivation, drawing participation from over 200 farmers and several leading agricultural experts.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAU&T), served as the Chief Guest. The Chief Speaker was Dr. Sain Dass, Former Director of ICAR–Indian Institute of Maize Research. Also present were Dr. R.K. Yadav, Director Extension, CSAU&T; Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Scientist, ATARI Kanpur; Dr. R.G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus, Dhanuka Agritech; and KVK officials from Kasganj and Raebareli.
Experts highlighted maize as a “wonder crop” with increasing profitability and demand in both domestic and industrial sectors. Dr. Sain Dass emphasized the crop’s potential to uplift farmer incomes and shared insights on science-based cultivation practices. He urged farmers to adopt advanced techniques to boost productivity.
Dr. R.G. Agarwal underlined the importance of holistic farm management, including soil and water testing, judicious use of inputs, and verification through QR codes. He introduced eco-friendly crop protection products and micronutrient solutions from Dhanuka to address pest, disease, and soil health challenges. Dr. Agarwal also encouraged farmers to support water conservation and tree plantation to tackle climate change.
In his keynote, Dr. A.K. Singh praised the initiative for focusing on maize, a crop with immense potential to increase rural prosperity. Citing NITI Aayog data, he noted that rural GDP is now nearly equal to urban GDP. He emphasized seed quality, crop diversification, and adherence to scientific advisories for pesticide use. He also endorsed Dhanuka’s product Sempra for effective weed control in maize.
Dhanuka’s Praveen Kumar presented a detailed product portfolio tailored for maize cultivation, including Implode, Mesotrax, Sempra (for weed control), Cover and Largo (for insect pests), and Conika and Godiwa Super (for disease management).
This workshop reflects Dhanuka’s ongoing efforts to bridge the knowledge gap in farming. Through collaborations with ICAR and 15 agricultural universities, the company promotes integrated pest management and climate-resilient agriculture, aligning with national goals of doubling farmers’ income and sustainable growth.
