Samsung’s latest update for the Galaxy A56 and A36 brings a new yet exciting AI feature powered by One UI 7. Rolling out in May 2025, this software update introduces Gemini side key integration and the latest security patch.
The standout feature is the new side key functionality.
By pressing and holding the side button, users can quickly launch Google’s Gemini AI assistant. This feature, once exclusive to Galaxy S series phones, makes AI access faster and more intuitive.
You can customize the side button in Settings to suit your needs. Whether you prefer Gemini or Bixby, the choice is yours. This flexibility enhances the user experience on the Galaxy A56 and A36.
The update also supports cross-app tasks.
Apps like Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock now work seamlessly with Gemini. Ask Gemini to save a YouTube video summary to Notes or add sports game dates to your Calendar.

- The Side button is a new way to access Google Gemini or other digital assistant app quickly instead of using the corner swipe. You can change what the Side button does in Settings.
Complete multiple tasks with one ask
- Google Gemini is now seamlessly integrated with Samsung apps such as Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock. You can complete tasks in these apps using information from Gemini with one simple command.
- Try asking Google Gemini to ask about a YouTube video and save the result in Samsung Notes, or try asking Google Gemini to find your favorite sports team’s schedule and add the games to your calendar.
Alongside AI enhancements, the May 2025 security patch strengthens Galaxy A56 protection. While specific patch details of the May patch aren’t listed, it ensures your Galaxy A56 stays secure against the latest threats.
To get the update, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Ensure your device is charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
