A brief presentation titled “Journey of NABARD” was showcased, highlighting key milestones, achievements, and NABARD’s evolving role in rural development.
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) marked its 44th Foundation Day with a commemorative event hosted by its New Delhi Regional Office, celebrating over four decades of pioneering efforts in agricultural development, rural transformation, and financial inclusion.
The event was graced by Rohit P. Das, Regional Director, RBI New Delhi, as the Chief Guest, and Shailendra Singh Parihaar, Special Secretary (Finance), Government of NCT of Delhi, as the Keynote Speaker. The celebration also saw participation from eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Hara Gopal Yandra, Managing Director, NABCONS; Mashar Velapurath, Managing Director, AFC India Ltd.; Rajesh Kumar, General Manager, SLBC Delhi; and Natarajan Ramachandran, General Manager, SIDBI, along with senior NABARD officials, partners, and staff.
The event reflected on NABARD’s evolution since its inception in 1982. Nabin Kumar Roy, GM/OIC, NABARD New Delhi, in his welcome address, highlighted the institution’s impact through initiatives like the SHG-Bank Linkage Programme and promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). He emphasized NABARD’s role in cooperative sector reforms, especially under the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi,” including PACS computerization and support for rural innovation through GI tagging and heritage financing.
Dr. Hara Gopal Yandra shared his personal journey spanning three decades with NABARD, underscoring the institution’s role in direct financing, refinancing, and strengthening rural infrastructure. Shailendra Singh Parihaar likened NABARD’s grassroots work to the wisdom of ancient sages, praising its integration of agriculture with technology and assured Delhi Government’s support for future collaborations.
Congratulating NABARD on its legacy, Rohit P. Das commended its role in rural infrastructure, cooperative banking oversight, and credit facilitation. He stressed the importance of aligning the Potential Linked Credit Plan with Annual Credit Plan targets for more effective priority sector lending, and acknowledged NABARD’s importance in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.”

As part of the event, NABARD also facilitated two stalls featuring Maa Dharitiri Terracotta and Falah Handicrafts Society—both beneficiaries of GI registration support.
A special stakeholder interaction session was also organized. Representatives from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Grofree FPO, and Satya MicroCapital Ltd, NBFC-MFIs shared their success stories and the transformative role played by NABARD in their development journeys.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Samir S. Athalye, Deputy General Manager, NABARD New Delhi RO.
